Ongoing Feeling Of Sluggishness This Winter?
I meet so many people who have this problem.
Some Tips to Turn It Around.
Winter is in full swing, and if you’re feeling more tired, unmotivated, or just not quite yourself, you’re not alone. There are scientific and physiological reasons for this. The colder months can take a real toll on energy and mood, but the good news is, you don’t have to wait for spring to start feeling better. Here’s what might be dragging you down—and how to fix it.
1. Moving Less = Lower Energy & Mood
It’s natural to be less active in winter, but when movement drops, so do your endorphins, circulation, and overall energy levels. The result? More sluggishness and a lower mood.
How to fix it:
Commit to at least 30 minutes of movement daily, even indoors (ideally more if you can!).
Try bodyweight workouts, an online exercise video, or stretching routines at home on a yoga mat.
When possible, get outside for a brisk walk—daylight and fresh air make a huge difference.
2. Heavy Comfort Foods = Blood Sugar Crashes
Winter cravings for carb-heavy comfort foods can lead to spikes and crashes in blood sugar, which leaves you feeling drained and sluggish.
How to fix it:
Prioritize protein and healthy fats to keep energy levels stable.
Swap out sugary snacks for options like Greek yogurt with berries and nuts.
Stay hydrated—dehydration can make fatigue even worse.
3. Low Vitamin D = More Fatigue & Winter Blues
With shorter days and less sunlight, your vitamin D levels can significantly drop, impacting both mood and immune health. This is a massive problem, and I see many people with blood levels in the single digits!
How to fix it:
Take a vitamin D3 supplement, ideally with K2 for better absorption. I have personally found this transformative for my winter health.
Get outside midday whenever possible to soak up natural light.
Eat vitamin D-rich foods that agree with you— whether it's eggs, mushroom, milk or fatty fish.
Winter doesn’t have to drain your energy.
Small changes can make a big difference in how you feel every day.
