Had a fantastic Christmas. And yes, quite rightly, a lot of over-indulging.
Back to work now…and something interesting happened.
The last couple of mornings I woke up absolutely starving.
That almost never happens to me. Most days I don’t eat my first meal until the afternoon (time restricted eating, to optimize my metabolic health and keep my natural insulin levels low to avoid insulin resistance).
So why the sudden hunger after all that Christmas food?
Because junk food— especially carbs & sugar which I've been eating loads of— does this ⬇
• 🚨 Spikes insulin → blood sugar crashes → your brain screams “EAT”
• 🧠 Disrupts hunger hormones (leptin & ghrelin) → appetite control goes offline
• 🔁 Creates a craving loop → the more you eat, the hungrier you feel
This is the vicious circle millions of people are stuck in every single day— not from weakness, but from a diet and eating patterns built around excessive processed carbs and sugar.
Over-eating doesn’t make you “full”.
It makes you hungry again and again.
And no the correct solution is not for millions of people to go on drugs and injections for the rest of their lives.
The only real solution is to address the root cause and commit to getting into healthier habits that become the norm for you. Not only does that help with staying in shape— but you feel 10X better and more energetic too.
Anyway, I’m back in the swing of things now.
Today I say NO to those hunger pangs. I will not succumb. I will resist.
Strong willpower matters. It's the only thing that has ever mattered for any human goal.
Morning fast. First meal will be at 1pm— high in protein and antioxidants (vegetables).
Calm mind. Cup of tea. Back to discipline. ☕💪
